High-Performance Marine Surface Protection (MPF701 & MPF724)
Hullguard Premium is our flagship surface protection film, engineered for exceptional performance on both interior and exterior yacht surfaces. Made from high-quality white polyolefin, this film is available in two formats — MPF701 and MPF724 — and is ideal for protecting gelcoat and high-gloss finishes during construction, refits, or winter layup.
MPF701 is the only marine protection film we know of that's tested and approved for 12 months of UV resistance and weatherability, while MPF724 offers robust protection for up to 9 months. Both versions prevent oxidation, apply cleanly with no adhesive transfer, and remove without leaving residue.
Thanks to their impressive 600% elongation, Hullguard Premium films conform easily to complex hull, deck, and superstructure shapes — providing a reliable barrier that stretches and protects without compromise.

Application Information

Proper Application For Best Results
-
1
Surface Preparation
Ensure the surface is thoroughly clean, dry, and free from contaminants. For best adhesion, remove waxes and polishes with an appropriate solvent.
-
2
Temperature Conditions
Apply in moderate temperatures between 10-35°C (50-95°F) for optimal adhesion. The film's malleability improves in warmer conditions.
-
3
Application Technique
Use core handles for controlled unrolling, especially on curved surfaces. Take advantage of the 600% elongation by allowing the film to stretch over complex shapes.
-
4
Securing the Film
Use an MPF squeegee to remove air bubbles and ensure complete contact. Work from the center outward, applying firm pressure along seams and edges.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What's the difference between MPF701 and MPF724?
The primary difference is in their UV protection capabilities. MPF701 offers our best-in-class 12 months of UV and weather resistance, making it ideal for extended outdoor storage and long-term projects. MPF724 provides up to 9 months of protection and is perfect for standard builds, refits, and seasonal storage needs. Both films feature the same exceptional elongation properties and clean removal.
-
How long can I leave Hullguard Premium on my vessel?
MPF701 can remain in place for up to 12 months, while MPF724 is best used for up to 9 months. Beyond these timeframes, the films will continue to protect but may become more difficult to remove cleanly. For optimal results and easiest removal, we recommend removing the film within the specified periods.
-
Will Hullguard Premium work on non-glossy surfaces?
While Hullguard Premium is optimized for gelcoat and high-gloss finishes, its excellent adhesion properties make it suitable for many marine surfaces. For rough, textured surfaces or unpolished metals, we recommend our specialized Hullguard Unpolished or Deckguard Teak & Metal products, which are specifically formulated for those applications.
-
Can I apply Hullguard Premium to a wet surface?
No, for optimal adhesion and performance, surfaces must be completely dry and free of moisture before application. Moisture trapped between the film and surface can compromise adhesion and potentially lead to premature lifting or bubbling. Always clean and thoroughly dry surfaces before applying any Hullguard products.
